Police say a Secret Service agent was robbed at gunpoint during Biden’s trip to Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (AP) – A U.S. Secret Service agent was robbed at gunpoint as President Joe Biden was visiting Los Angeles for a fundraiser over the weekend, officials said.

According to the U.S. Secret Service, the agent was on his way home from work on Saturday evening when he was attacked in a residential area in Tustin, about an hour’s drive southeast of Los Angeles.

Shortly after 9:30 p.m., someone called Tustin police to report the robbery. Police said the agent had his bag stolen at gunpoint. The agent, who was not injured, fired his weapon during the altercation, police said. The Secret Service said it did not know if anyone was shot.

Tustin police said Monday they have not found a suspect. However, officers did find some of the agent’s stolen items in the area. Police reported that a silver Infiniti FX35 was seen leaving the scene.

Biden and former President Barack Obama hosted a star-studded fundraiser in Los Angeles on Saturday that raised more than $30 million for Biden’s re-election campaign.
