Police said the incidents had caused “significant concern” in the community

A man has been arrested in connection with several sexual offences in Bath.

The incident occurred after a man recently exposed himself three times and inappropriately touched a young girl and a young woman, police said.

Officers arrested a 57-year-old man on Friday, who has since been released from custody. The investigation is ongoing.

The man had received “very strict instructions” not to stay at any of the locations or adjacent streets where the reported crimes had taken place, police said.

Two of the incidents occurred on 11 June. A woman in her 40s reported that a man exposed himself in front of her on the Wansdyke Path at 13:05 BST.

At 1:20 p.m., two young girls also reported that the same thing had happened to them.

A few days later, on 14 June, police received a report that a man had exposed himself to a woman in her 70s at around 1.30pm as she parked in a Sainsbury’s car park on Frome Road.

On the same day, a young girl reported that she had been inappropriately touched at a bus stop at around 4:15 p.m.

Fifteen minutes later, a woman in her late teens was inappropriately touched at Sainsbury’s, police said.

Police said they received two reports of crime at Sainsbury’s in Bath on Friday.

Ch Insp Scott Hill, of Avon and Somerset Police, said: “These incidents have understandably caused significant concern among the community, particularly women and girls.

“Protecting women and girls from male violence is one of our priorities.”

To ensure safety, additional patrols would be conducted in the area and police would work with local schools to address ongoing safety concerns, he added.
