6 dead, 5 injured in devastating house fire in Georgia – Finger Lakes Daily News

(NEWNAN, Georgia) – Six people died and five others were injured in a house fire in Georgia early Monday morning, officials said.

The dead ranged in age from 6 to 70, said Richard Hawk, Coweta County coroner.

Firefighters arrived at the home in Coweta County, about 40 miles southwest of Atlanta, around 5 a.m. and found more than half of the house engulfed in flames, the Coweta County Fire Department said.

According to the fire department, all eleven people in the house were evacuated.

Six people died and five others were hospitalized, some with serious injuries, authorities said.

A firefighter also suffered minor injuries, authorities said.

According to officials, the cause of the fire is currently being investigated.
