3 predictions that are WAY too early for the Buffalo Sabers in 2024/2025

For my final prediction, Sabers goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen will end up among the Vezina candidates. Luukkonen had a breakout year this season as he had a 27-22-4 record with a .910 SV% (save percentage) and a 2.57 GAA (goals against average).

After some wondered if he could put together a full season, UPL did just that and you could make a case that he was the team’s MVP. I’m not trying to get ahead of myself, but as he has been this year, I see him having another good season in 2024/2025.

With his five shutouts, Luukkonen was one of the main reasons the Sabers were in the playoff race until the final games of the season. Along with Devon Levi, he and Luukkonen give Buffalo a reliable 1-2 punch. UPL should land a well-deserved contract and he will build on his tremendous season. If he has another good season, I think he will be one of the finalists for the Vezina Trophy.
