PPD investigates shooting in which woman is killed

(PUEBLO, Colorado) – The Pueblo Police Department (PPD) is investigating after a woman was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound on the east side of Pueblo.

According to PPD, officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 900 block of East 7 shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Monday, June 17th Street, on Pueblo’s east side. PPD said officers determined it was a “road traffic disturbance” involving multiple cars and shots fired.

According to PPD, officers found a woman in the 500 block of Erie Avenue suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene. According to PPD, detectives and criminal investigations officers are investigating her death as a homicide.

Later Monday, just before 2:30 p.m., officers found the suspect in a stolen car on the south side of Pueblo, and a brief chase ensued. The suspect also led police on a foot chase, but was eventually caught.

The shooting victim is identified by the Pueblo County Coroner. According to PPD, this is the 12th homicide in Pueblo in 2024.
