MPs ask public for help in animal cruelty investigation – edhat

Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a burglary and animal cruelty case in which four chickens were killed.

On Sunday, June 16, 2024, at approximately 7:11 p.m., officers responded to a call to a church in the 6500 block of Picasso Road because dead chickens had been found on the property.

During their investigation, officers discovered that a lone suspect had trespassed into a locked chicken coop owned by the Isla Vista Community Services District on church property.

The suspect used a baseball bat or similar object to beat the chickens, killing four of them. There is no indication that this crime specifically targeted the church.

Sheriff’s deputies are following this case, collecting evidence and contacting witnesses. The suspect has not yet been arrested.

Deputies would like to encourage anyone with information to call the Isla Vista Foot Patrol Unit at (805) 681-4179.
