17-year-old girl killed in double shooting in Delaware – NBC10 Philadelphia

Delaware State Police have identified 17-year-old Ahniya Coverdale as the victim of a shooting that occurred in Delaware on June 9.

The incident occurred on Sunday, June 9, around 4:30 p.m. in the 12000 block of North Old State Road in Ellendale, Delaware.

A fight broke out between several people near a community center, after which an unidentified suspect pulled out a gun and fired into the crowd, investigators said.

Coverdale, of Harrington, Delaware, and a 19-year-old man were both shot. She was later taken to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

The 19-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was taken to hospital where he was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.

Police have not yet released a description of the suspects and are continuing to investigate.
