A Massachusetts man is in custody after being accused of shooting a 15-year-old girl he was in a relationship with, authorities said.

Trevor Bady, 21, of Tewksbury was arrested Monday on several charges, including murder, in connection with the death of high school student Ahliana Dickey, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan announced.

Ryan said Ahliana’s family members first feared she was missing when she failed to show up for her eighth-grade graduation ceremony Friday morning.

The district attorney said Lowell police received a 911 call around 6:10 p.m. Friday from Ahliana’s grandmother, who said family members had found the girl’s body in a home on Lowell Street. Ahliana’s family knew the girl was seriously injured and feared she was dead.

Ryan said when Lowell police arrived at the scene, they found Ahliana in a first-floor bedroom with gunshot wounds. Officers also found several shell casings near her body.

According to Ryan, investigators found that Ahliana had an abusive relationship with a man later identified as Bady, who had allegedly beaten and threatened her in the past.

Ryan said Lowell police received a call just after midnight Friday from a person on Lawrence Street who reported a man and woman arguing outside across the street. The caller heard a woman screaming, “Get away from me, get away from me. I don’t want to be with you anymore,” before hearing gunshots, according to the district attorney. Officers responded to the scene but were unable to locate either party, Ryan said.

According to Ryan, video recovered from the area showed a woman calling for help shortly before midnight – a woman later identified as Ahliana – and a man believed to be Bady leaving Ahliana’s house shortly after midnight.

Ryan also said that Lowell police learned Saturday that Bady had taken an Uber to and from Ahliana’s house before and after the murder. The Uber driver later told police that he had a suspicious passenger, Bady, with him and expressed concern about him.

Authorities were able to locate Bady at a residence in Peabody on Monday afternoon and arrested him without incident, Ryan said.

In addition to the murder charge, Bady faces charges of armed burglary, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building.

Bady is scheduled to be arraigned in Lowell District Court on Tuesday morning.
