1 dead after two-vehicle collision in Allegany County

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – An Allegany County man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon in the town of Wirt, New York State Police said.

According to police, the accident occurred around 2:16 p.m. on State Route 275, where a northbound Ford Escape entered the southbound lane and collided head-on with a Hyundai.


Police said the driver of the Ford, 48-year-old Michael R. Coats of Bolivar, NY, was pronounced dead at the scene. In the worst case scenario, the occupants of the Hyundai suffered minor injuries.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
