Weather warning: News10NBC: Yellow warning issued due to ongoing heat wave

A large high pressure area will settle off the east coast, creating ideal conditions for oppressive, stuffy weather.

It is the combination of significantly higher temperatures and increasing humidity that will make conditions difficult for all outdoor activities this week.

Record temperatures could be expected over the next two days, and the Rochester area could see the hottest weather since 2020.

For this reason, News 10NBC will maintain the yellow alert for at least Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Remember that there are some simple tips to deal with this extreme heat. Drink plenty of water, avoid the sun, use an air-conditioned environment as much as possible, never leave children or animals in the car and check on the elderly as they are more susceptible to heat-related illnesses.

On Monday evening, isolated thunderstorms are expected in the early evening. The low temperature will be just under 25 degrees. On Tuesday, it will be partly sunny, with the possibility of thunderstorms in the afternoon. The high temperature will be 34 degrees. Wednesday and Thursday will be foggy, hot and humid. Here, too, there is a possibility of thunderstorms each day. The temperature on both days will be between just under 35 degrees and just under 35 degrees, with high humidity. The heat index (a combination of temperature and humidity) will be at or above 38 degrees at times. The extreme heat will ease over the weekend, but a significant relief is not likely to occur until early next week.
