NEW POLICE OFFICER OF THE CROOKSTON POLICE DEPARTMENT HAS STARTED HIS EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT

Crookston Police Department’s new Officer Robert Haugen officially began his duties today.

Haugen, originally from Sioux Falls, graduated from Fosston High School and then earned an associate degree in criminal justice from Northland Community & Technical College. While there, he some security work for his college. Haugen also worked as a dispatcher for Pennington County and in law enforcement for about a year. His last work experience before joining the Crookston Police Department was as a deputy with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Haugen describes what he likes about the area: “I work in Crookston and I like the area here. It’s a small town where you know people, but it’s still big enough to have things to do. I also like how closely the police are connected to the town, holding events with them, organizing different activities throughout the year and being part of the community.”

Finally, Haugen mentioned what he thinks he can do for the community. “I know I’m good at talking to people and I get along with pretty much everyone. So I think it will help the community if I can talk to them, work with them, build trust and really talk to them honestly, using my discretion.”
