Salinas Municipality Police Chief Recruitment Survey Now Open

The survey is designed to get community input on the experience and leadership skills people think are most important. “Filling the police chief position is one of the key leadership positions he has prioritized as he begins his fourth week as Salinas City Manager,” the City of Salinas wrote in a news release issued Monday.

The survey includes a question about the experience of candidates for police chief. The city asks respondents to rank the list of qualities by what they believe is the highest priority (community policing, transparency, DEI initiatives, trust building, community engagement and innovation are some of them).

A follow-up question asks survey respondents to list their priorities as police chief related to leadership qualities such as ethics and integrity, learning and development, leadership transition, accountability, effective communication and transparency, empathy, and operational efficiency.

The survey is open until June 30 at 11:59 p.m. The results will be made public the following week.
