PD: Man arrested for shooting and injuring woman in Las Cruces

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — According to Las Cruces police, a man has been arrested for a shooting that left a woman injured in Las Cruces last Saturday, June 15.

According to police, 19-year-old Christian Cervantes Nieto is accused of shooting at a house or apartment, aggravated burglary and serious assault.


Nieto is also accused of three counts of failure to appear in court.

According to police, an operation was conducted in the 1900 block of West Picacho Avenue around 10:30 p.m. this Saturday because shots had been fired at an apartment in the area.

Police said they found Nieto fired several shots into an apartment upon arrival.

According to police, Nieto then entered the apartment, pointed a shotgun at a 36-year-old woman and made demands.

Nieto then allegedly fled the area in a black SUV. The woman suffered minor injuries and received medical treatment at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Police said they located and arrested Nieto on Sunday morning, June 16. Police also found a shotgun in his possession.

Nieto was taken to the Dona Ana County Detention Center, where he is being held without bail.
