Lexington triggers Phase 1 heat warning due to high temperatures

LEXINGTON, Kentucky (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Lexington Emergency Management Division has issued a Phase I Heat Warning.

Since the heat is expected to reach 35 degrees Celsius, the warning is valid from Monday, June 17th to Saturday, June 22nd.

The alert allows homeless people to ride the LexTran to cooling stations around the city for free.

Various community centers around the city will have cooling stations, including the Dunbar Center, Kenwick, Castlewood and Tates Creek.

These centers will be open into the evening and will be available to those who need relief from the heat.
