Police say white man from Bellingham attacked black boy because of racism

IImagine being such a pathetic and violent racist that you direct your white supremacist rage at a random teenager walking back to school from a field trip for no other reason than that the child is black. That’s the case of 42-year-old Paul Jonathan Bittner, according to police in Bellingham, Washington, where Bittner allegedly walked up to a group of sixth-graders at Whatcom Middle School and punched one of them in the face in a completely unprovoked attack.

In fact, according to KIRO 7, Bellingham Police Chief Rebecca Mertzig reported that witnesses claimed Bittner asked the 11-year-old unnamed victim he allegedly attacked, “Are you going to talk to a white man like that?” So Bittner is not only a bitter, violent, anti-black child abuser, according to police, but also one who seems to feel like he was born in the wrong era and longs for the day when a black man can’t even look a white man in the eye, let alone say something the white man might find offensive without risking a lynching that local police wouldn’t even investigate (because, as you know, several of them were part of the lynch mob).

Unfortunately for Bittner, it’s 2024 and he’s not a resident of the Deep South, so he was charged with assault on a minor as well as malicious harassment, which is a hate crime. He was arraigned last Thursday and his bail was set at $500,000.

“This is definitely a hate crime,” Mertzig told KIRO 7. “This gentleman attacked a child for no reason because of his race.”

The attack reportedly happened just down the street from the Bellingham Police Department. Bittner ran away like a coward after hitting the child, according to witnesses, and was chased by a teacher before being arrested. Afterward, he reportedly continued to make racist comments, as if he was proud of being such a pathetic and cowardly bigot that he would attack someone who was barely out of his teens.

Be careful out there. The racists aren’t getting bolder, but they are getting bolder, and they aren’t limiting their Klan-like activities to picking on someone their size.
