UPDATE: Coroner says man shot with crossbow in Bedford Street incident | News

JOHNSTOWN, Pennsylvania — An autopsy was performed Monday on a Johnstown man who was shot with a crossbow on Bedford Street on Sunday.

The incident occurred in front of a residence in the 1100 block of Bedford Street, Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees said.

Cambria County District Attorney Greg Neugebauer previously described the incident as the result of a “family dispute that turned violent.”

Lees said the shooting sent a man in his 50s to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center on Franklin Street in Johnstown, but the man died in the operating room at 8:15 p.m.

Lees was still investigating the cause and manner of death.

The name of the deceased will not be released until the family is notified, he said.

Neugebauer said authorities were trying to reach at least one individual in the case.

“Police want to speak with Phillip Bermudez. Anyone who knows his whereabouts is asked to contact the JPD (Johnstown Police Department) or 911 in Cambria County. Police believe there is no danger to the public,” he said.
