Standoff with Pensacola police ended peacefully early Monday morning – WKRG News 5

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) – A Pensacola man is facing charges for allegedly precipitating a standoff with police that involved a woman and children in the home.

Pensacola police were called to a home on Boland Place at 11:30 p.m. Sunday night. A man had reportedly barricaded himself in his home with his family and did not come out when police arrived.

This led to a standoff that lasted about six hours. The Pensacola SWAT team was called around 3 a.m. Monday.

Negotiators spoke with the man throughout the night and he eventually left the house. No one was injured, including an adult woman and several children – a peaceful end to something that could have ended much worse.

“That’s the job of our negotiation team. They talk to people, they investigate things to try to bring things to a peaceful resolution, like what happened here,” said Mike Wood of the Pensacola Police Department.

The man was taken to jail and charges are expected to be filed against him. The man’s name has not been released. We do not know what he is charged with or why this standoff occurred in the first place.
