Judges are being investigated for alleged ex parte communication and delays in reaching a verdict

As the clock ticks on the first four-year term of Atlanta Judicial Circuit Court Judge Shermela J. Williams of the Superior Court of Fulton County, the jurist faces an investigation by the Judicial Qualifications Commission of Georgia.

From allegedly engaging in one-sided communications in a pending case, to delaying case resolution by failing to issue timely final orders in family court matters, to lacking impartiality in adjudicating custody cases, Williams faces 17 formal charges of alleged ethics violations dating back to 2021.
