Shoplifter arrested at campus store – Lincoln Parish Journal

A woman who allegedly shoplifted from a campus bookstore and then fled was arrested by campus police Monday afternoon.

Quashanna D. Sanders-Hernandez, 35, of Ruston was charged with shoplifting after employees at Grambling State University’s campus bookstore observed her filling a bag with merchandise and leaving the store without paying.

An employee at the Barnes & Noble Bookstore said Sanders came into the store, walked to a corner and filled a bag with several items. She then ran out of the store and set off an alarm. The store manager chased Sanders and instructed her to return the items to the store. An argument broke out inside the store and campus police were called.

GSU police found Sanders near the cafeteria. The woman told officers that the items had already been paid for and she would pick them up.

The stolen items included hats, clothing, books, a shopping bag, a blanket and other items totaling over $560.

A records check revealed that Sanders was wanted by the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office on a warrant for illegal possession of stolen property.

After her arrest, Sanders told police that she had previously been barred from entering the bookstore.
