Sparks man gets life in prison for sexual assault of child under 14

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – A Sparks man has been sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of sexually assaulting a child under 14 years old.

Dion Mason was found guilty of two counts of sexual assault on a child under 14 and one count of indecency with a child under 14. Mason is eligible for parole after 70 years.

In November 2021, officers with the Sparks Police Department responded to reports of a juvenile sexual assault.

The victim was identified as a 13-year-old girl and was known to Mason. The victim told her mother about the assaults and said Mason sexually abused her multiple times.
