Headmaster of Morarji School and seven others suspended

Chikmagalur: The Karnataka Residential Institutions Education Society (KREIS) has suspended eight officials of Morarji boarding school in connection with the death of a student on Friday.

In a tragic turn of events at Morarji Desai Residential School in Kadur taluk of Chikkamagaluru district, a Class 7 student named Akash died due to electrocution. The incident occurred when Akash along with his friends was picking jamun from a tree in the school premises. While falling from the tree, he came in contact with an electric wire, which resulted in his fatal electrocution.

In response to this unfortunate incident, eight persons, including officials and staff members connected with the case, have been suspended. Praveen B Bagewadi, Director of KREIS, has ordered the suspension and cited irresponsibility of staff as the cause of death. The suspended persons include the in-charge of the school, the hostel warden, teachers and the security guard. Akash was immediately rushed to the hospital after the incident; however, despite all efforts, his life could not be saved. Kadur police station has registered a case and is investigating the matter. The police have examined the accident spot and are continuing their investigation to ascertain the full extent of the culpability.
