Adams County Sheriff’s Office investigates domestic shooting

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal Father’s Day shooting. Shortly after midnight, 911 dispatch received a domestic disturbance call at a home on Carmel Church Road. Before officers arrived, authorities say Calvin Carter forced a woman into his vehicle at gunpoint and left the scene. Officials say a family member of the woman followed Carter down Shieldsboro Road, where an altercation ensued. Carter was shot and later died. The woman was taken to the hospital for her injuries. Sheriff Travis Patten says evidence is being collected at multiple crime scenes and the investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made to date.

ADAMS COUNTY, Miss —

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting on Father’s Day.

Shortly after midnight, 9-1-1 received a domestic disturbance alert from a home on Carmel Church Road.

Before officers arrived, authorities said Calvin Carter forced a woman into his vehicle at gunpoint and left the scene.

According to officials, a family member followed Carter down Shieldsboro Road, where an altercation occurred.

Carter was shot and later died.

The woman was taken to hospital because of her injuries.

According to Sheriff Travis Patten, evidence is being collected at several crime scenes and the investigation is ongoing.

So far no arrests have been made.
