Austell man dead after family found him in pond behind home – WSB-TV Channel 2

AUSTELL, Georgia – A Cobb County man has died after his family woke up Sunday morning to find his body in a pond behind their home.

Austell police said they were called to the 5500 block of Owens Drive because a dead person was found in a pond near the home.

Courtney Francisco, reporter for Channel 2 Action News spoke to the family of the deceased, who identified him as 64-year-old Jeffrey Ives.

According to his family, Ives was found in the water on Sunday morning, but it was “too late to save him.”

Austell police have requested assistance from the Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit in the death investigation. Ives’ body was taken by the Crimes Against Persons Unit for assistance in the death investigation. The deceased’s body was turned over to the Cobb County Coroner’s Office for further examination, officials said.

Although the investigation is ongoing, the authorities do not currently believe that anyone else was at fault.

Ives’ family describes him as a “grandfather, father and husband.”
