Sandra Doorley was fined $183 for speeding in Webster

Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley was fined last month for Webster’s speeding.

According to Webster Town Court officials, Doorley will be ordered to pay $183 in connection with the traffic violation. Payment due includes a $90 fine and a $93 surcharge.

Webster judges opted to have the fines imposed by an out-of-town judge. Ontario City Judge William Benedict II was selected.

Instead of immediately stopping on Phillips Road in Webster to see a Webster police officer, Doorley instead drove to her nearby home, ignored some of the officer’s requests for information, called the officer’s police chief and called the officer an “idiot.”

Body-worn camera footage of Doorley’s encounter with Webster Police Officer Cameron Crisafulli on April 22 quickly went viral after it was released by city police.

Doorley said last month that she pleaded guilty to the traffic violation a day after the encounter. She admitted she was driving 20 miles over the posted speed limit – 55 miles per hour in a posted 35 mile per hour zone.

She has also apologized for her actions — in a 30-second video she released to the community, in an interview with WHEC-TV (Channel 10), the only local media interview she did, and in a column she wrote was published in the Democrat and Chronicle.

Doorley told the Democrat and Chronicle last month that she called Webster Police Chief Dennis Kohlmeier while still in her vehicle on April 22 to alert him that she planned to pull into her driveway and didn’t want to, that the officer thought she was a threat.

The encounter sparked debate in the community about whether Doorley should resign from her position. Doorley said she reported to a lawyer’s grievance committee, which could discipline her.
