Hon. Amobi Ogah postpones birthday celebrations due to plight of Nigerians — ABN TV

The Member of Parliament for Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Hon. Amobi Ogah, has cancelled all activities planned by friends and well-wishers to celebrate his birthday today.

He explained that the suspension was due to the distress of Nigerians, which in some cases had led to the deaths of many people.

He said he could not be caught dancing for joy while his constituency was suffering.

In a statement on Sunday, he said: “I cannot dance and party in public while the majority of the population, especially from my constituency, are suffering from the economic hardship in the country.

“Why should I celebrate when the majority cannot even afford two decent meals for themselves and their families, when there is no security in the country and people live in fear and much more.”

While thanking God for the gift of life, he also thanked his friends for the idea of organizing a birthday in his honor.

“I am sincerely grateful to God for keeping me alive but due to the above issues, I regret to inform everyone that this year’s birthday celebration has been cancelled. It is time to reflect and pray to God for Nigeria to get better and move our leaders to rise to all our challenges and make life better for all.”

“I thank you all for your well-wishes and promise you, as your leader in my capacity, that I will do everything in my power to put a smile on your face as the Lord allows us to.”
