Motorcyclist killed in accident in Bethel, Maine

A 43-year-old Alabama man driving a Toyota Prius was arrested and charged with drunken driving resulting in death and manslaughter, a press release said.

BETHEL, Maine – A New Hampshire motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Bethel Saturday night after a car cut him off, the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office said.

Oxford County Sheriff’s officers, Bethel Rescue and Fire Departments and Greenwood Fire Department responded to a fatal crash in the area of ​​Walkers Mill Road around 5 p.m. involving a 2014 Honda CTX 700 motorcycle and a 2014 Toyota Prius, the sheriff’s department said in a news release.

An initial investigation revealed that the motorcycle was traveling northbound on Walkers Mill Road when the Prius pulled out of a driveway and entered the path of the motorcycle, causing the crash. The motorcyclist was reportedly killed in the crash.

The sheriff’s office identified the motorcyclist as 61-year-old David Roy of Berlin, New Hampshire. He had no passengers, according to the sheriff’s office.

The driver of the Toyota Prius was identified as 43-year-old Arin Palmer of Hoover, Alabama. He was uninjured in the crash and had no passengers on board, the sheriff’s office said.

Palmer was reportedly arrested and charged with driving under the influence causing death and manslaughter and was subsequently taken to the Oxford County Jail.

The sheriff’s office said the road would remain closed while officers investigate.
