Teenager killed in nighttime shooting in Sylvester, GBI investigates

SYLVESTER, Ga. (WALB) – A teenager was killed in a shooting in Sylvester late last night on Saturday, June 15.

At around 11:15 p.m., authorities said a 17-year-old woman was shot on Shipp Lane.

However, a woman who claims to be the victim’s stepmother tells WALB that she is 16 years old.

The identity of the victim is not being disclosed at this time as the entire family has not yet been notified.

Sylvester Police have turned the investigation over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).

Officials say the victim will be taken to the GBI crime lab in Macon, but it is unclear when that will happen.

WALB has contacted the GBI for further information.
