Cooling centers open this week in Buffalo

High temperatures this week require cooling centers and extended wading pool hours

BUFFALO, NY — As temperatures reach the 80s and 90s this week, Mayor Byron W. Brown shared a list of twelve cooling centers that will be open in Buffalo starting Monday, June 17.

Additionally, he announced that wading pools across the city will have extended hours and will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. until further notice.

City officials are also reminding residents that they can access two indoor pools in Buffalo, including the Cazenovia Pool and the Lovejoy Pool.

“These conditions will be particularly difficult for our elderly and young children. In the cooling centers, people will have access to clean drinking water, a place to cool off and sockets in case they need to recharge their phone,” said Mayor Brown. “It’s important for all of us to take the necessary precautions to stay cool and hydrated, but keep an eye out for your most vulnerable neighbors.”
