Authorities identify teenager killed and two injured in car crash in Warren County

WARREN COUNTY, Iowa – A week after an accident involving teenagers caused the Carlisle Community School District to cancel baseball and softball games last week.

Hanna Shaffer, 15, was named by the Iowa State Patrol as the teen who died in the crash after being flown by helicopter to a hospital in Des Moines. The other two teens are Payton Clark and Harley Hill. The condition of both is currently unknown, both were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.


The accident occurred last Sunday evening between Carlisle and Hartford. According to the Iowa State Patrol, the three were traveling north on 200th Avenue when the driver lost control and drove into the ditch.

The car overturned and skidded across a driveway. Authorities said two of the three teens were ejected from the car.

A funeral service for Shaffer has been scheduled for tomorrow evening, with a viewing at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. at Rising Sun Church of Christ. The Carlisle Community School District has canceled school activities for tomorrow evening.
