Benson fire | Massive fire destroys building in Benson garden center; investigation ongoing

BENSON, N.C. (WTVD) – A fire broke out at a garden center in Benson on Sunday morning.

Firefighters were called to a commercial building fire at Smith’s Farm Market and Garden Center on Sanders Road. Upon arrival, crews found a building engulfed in flames with a partial roof collapse.

Several teams were needed to extinguish the fire. The building is a total loss.

No word on the cause of the fire.

The investigation is being led by the Johnston County Fire Marshal’s Office.
