39-year-old Polish woman raped in India

The 39-year-old Polish woman came to India on a tourist visa in May. He turned up in McLeodganj two weeks ago. She was about to meet Karthik Chauhan, who was harassing her in a local shop.

A man who owns several rooms in McLeodganj offers to rent them out to a Polish woman. The woman agreed as she could not find accommodation for a long time.

According to the website “The Indian Express”, the man promised her marriage and then raped her. The drama is said to have taken place in a rented apartment.

Karthik Chauhan, a resident of Upper Paksu in Dharamshala, was arrested on Friday, a day after a 39-year-old Polish woman filed a police complaint. Forensic experts are to collect samples from the rape room. Indian police confirmed that the accused is still under investigation. The Polish embassy has also been informed about the crime.

– The victim is a foreigner. He came to India on a tourist visa for recreational purposes. We have verified his allegations. In the preliminary investigation, the offence has been proven. It has been revealed that they were in contact for the last two weeks. Further arrangements are underway,” Kangra police commissioner Shalini Agnihotri was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.
