‘Speed’ actor shocked by deadly Atlanta bus hijacking

As we reported, crazy in Atlanta hijacked a city buswhich he used to lead police on an incredible high-speed chase… during which he allegedly shot and killed a passenger.

James Hawthornewho played bus driver Sam Silver in the 1994 blockbuster, told TMZ…that he was shocked when he watched footage of the Atlanta bus bouncing on cars.

All this gave him a serious déjà vu, but, of course, he recognizes that the major difference is Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock and he himself always knew that they were safe.

Over the years, Hawthorne says he’s seen stories of buses being hijacked or involved in high-speed chases… which always amazes him because when he was offered “Speed”… he turned it down. . twice, because the idea that the plot was ridiculous!

Yet the Atlanta incident hits him differently because an innocent bystander lost his life, which he found devastating.

As for people thinking of “Speed” every time a bus crime happens, Hawthorne says he’s not surprised — the iconic film directed by Sandra and Keanu superstars, coincidentally, 30 years ago this month.
