Three people were killed and six injured in Russian attacks on Ukraine over the past day, regional authorities reported on June 16.

Russia attacked a total of nine Ukrainian oblasts – Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava, Luhansk, Zaporizhia, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv and Donetsk. Casualties were reported in the latter two regions.

In Donetsk OblastRussian forces attacked the village of Ulakly, about 60 kilometers west of Russian-occupied Donetsk, with several rocket launchers, Governor Vadym Filashkin reported.

The attack on Ulakly left three people dead and five injured. Two administrative buildings, a house, a shop and eight cars were also damaged.

In Kharkiv OblastRussian forces attacked the village of Kurylivka in the Kupiansk district of the region with a multiple rocket launcher, Governor Oleh Syniehubov said.

One man was injured and three houses were damaged by the strike.

Russia fires at 3,500 rockets on Ukrainian civilian targets and infrastructure for a month, President Volodymyr Zelensky said on June 14.

In recent months, Russia has also intensified its attacks against Ukraine critical infrastructure in a renewed attack on the country’s energy network.

In response to the attacks on energy infrastructure, Ukraine began implementing rolling Downtimes on May 15, but since then they have increased dramatically.

Russia’s move in Kharkiv has stalled. Was it a failure?

In the first half of May, Russia dramatically opened a new front in its war against Ukraine. The two-pronged offensive on Kharkiv Oblast came after the most difficult months for the Ukrainian armed forces, which were overwhelmed and exhausted after a brutal winter and spring campaign.
