Marcell Ozuna of the Braves has the best batting average in the Majors

Braves designated hitter Marcell Ozuna continued to play his way to the All-Star Game in Saturday’s 9-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays at Truist Park. He had three hits, including another home run.

He hit his 20th home run in the bottom of the fifth inning, helping the Braves produce a five-run frame for the second straight game. His home run total is third in baseball behind Aaron Judge (25) and Gunnar Henderson (21). Ozuna leads the MLB with a .327 average.

Ozuna also leads the National League in home runs, slugging percentage (.622) and RBIs (62) after the Braves’ latest win. His numbers surpass even Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani, considered the game’s greatest superstar. Ozuna has a better average (.327 vs. .309), better OPS (1.021 vs. .956), more home runs (20 vs. 17 ) and more points produced (62 against 44).

Ozuna has made the All-Star team twice since during his eleven-year career. It seems likely he will make three this season.

β€œIt would mean a lot; this will be my third appearance in the All-Star Game,” Ozuna said. β€œI missed one in 2019 when I got injured.”
