Houston Dynamo FC earns 2-2 away draw against Atlanta United FC

ATLANTA (June 15, 2024) – Houston Dynamo FC earned a 2-2 road draw against Atlanta United FC at Mercedes-Benz Stadium thanks to goals from Franco Escobar And Blessing Latif.

Defender Franco Escobar gave Houston the lead in the fifth minute when he capitalized on a rebound inside the box. The game started with a corner from the captain Hector Herrerawho fell, and his effort bounced off the crossbar towards the far post.

Atlanta tied the game in the 25th minute after Thiago Almada capitalized on a rebound following Daniel Rios’ shot.

Xande Silva found the box and scored a right-footed shot, bringing Atlanta to a 2-1 lead in the 54th minute.

Goalie Steve Clark made his first save of the evening and preserved Houston’s lead when Atlanta United forward Xande Silva attempted a shot into the net.

Defender Griffin Dorsey had two consecutive chances in the 29th and 31st minutes, but both chances were blocked, resulting in a corner kick.

During the final 45 minutes of the match, Griffin Dorsey passed the ball to midfielder Aliyu Ibrahim. Ibrahim then attempted a shot into the net, but his shot was stopped by Atlanta goalkeeper Brad Guzan.

Arthur attempted a long-range shot in the 60th minute, but it went wide. Shortly after, captain Hector Herrera attempted another shot, but his attempt was missed in the 62nd minute.

Latif Blessing equalized the match in the 90th minute, making the score 2-2.

Dynamo then returns to Shell Energy Stadium will host Seattle Sounders FC on Wednesday, June 19, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT. The club will recognize Juneteenth throughout the day, including a $19 ticket offer. Tickets for the match are available HERE.
