Arizona continues to experience extreme heat and higher than normal temperatures

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Due to extreme heat, our First Alert Weather Days will continue through Sunday. Temperatures are trending warmer than normal for this time of year.

The average temperature for this weekend is 105 degrees, with temperatures above 110 degrees on Saturday and hovering around 110 degrees on Sunday.

The heat warning for the low-lying deserts and south-central Arizona remains in effect through Sunday night.

The National Weather Service has now issued a Red Flag Warning for Northern Arizona for Sunday and Monday as dry weather with low relative humidity is expected and gusty winds of around 40-45 miles per hour are expected.

Due to a low pressure system passing north of the region, temperatures will fall slightly to near normal levels Monday through Wednesday before warming significantly.

It will also remain windy in the valley and stronger winds are expected in the mountain regions throughout Monday afternoon.

Later in the week, a high pressure system will form over the region. This strong system will push temperatures back up to the 40s, and on Friday we could see the first 46-degree day of the year. Last year we reached 46 degrees on July 2nd.
