  • Arrest for human trafficking in New Jersey go-go bar

SECAUCUS, NJ — Secaucus police have made another arrest at AJ’s Go-Go Bar, tightening scrutiny of the establishment’s activities. Dilcia Nunez Gomez, 36, of Belleville, was arrested last week on charges of soliciting and promoting prostitution. This followed a series of undercover operations by the Secaucus Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit, which responded to persistent complaints of illegal activity at the bar.

The latest operations follow a tip received in April 2024 that prostitution was continuing to operate at the establishment, located at 201 Secaucus Road. This is not the first time AJ’s has been the focus of law enforcement. Previous police actions at the bar included nine arrests in December 2021 for offenses ranging from promoting prostitution to cocaine trafficking, and three more arrests in November 2022 for similar charges.

Despite these recurring legal issues, AJ’s Go-Go Bar remains open, drawing criticism from local police. Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller expressed frustration with the State Alcohol and Beverage Control Board’s decision to keep the bar open, citing it as a factor in allowing sex crimes to continue at the location.

Charges against Gomez are pending and she is presumed innocent until proven guilty. These events underscore the ongoing challenges local authorities face in curbing illegal activity associated with nightspots.
