The incident occurred on April 8, and although the Steuben County District Attorney’s Office found no criminal wrongdoing, Murray acknowledged that he was “at ease” and accepted the suspension. Both the city and independent prosecutors conducted and completed investigations.

Murray expressed regret and said, “I take full responsibility and apologize for this mistake.” The Board of Public Safety stressed that it is committed to accountability and transparency in handling the matter.
