Chandigarh: More than a week after newly elected MP from Mandi Kangana Ranaut was allegedly slapped by a woman CISF constable at Chandigarh airport, a Sikh constable of UT Police in Dalhousie in HP faced the wrath of locals and Himachal Police over the slapping incident. ASI Paramjit Singh, who had gone to Dalhousie to vacation with his family, was initially taunted by locals who reportedly commented, “You have slapped our MP at the airport in your state and now you expect us to welcome you here.” Matters got uglier when a constable of Himachal Police also allegedly misbehaved with the UT police constable. An ASI of HP Police also supported the locals and did not listen to Paramjit. After the incident, Paramjit returned to the city the same day and filed a complaint through an email with the DGP of HP police against the policemen who had allegedly misbehaved with him. In his complaint to the HP DGP, ASI Paramjit said that on June 9, he had gone to Khajjiar near Dalhousie in his private car for two days. Paramjit said he had parked his car at Khajjiar where other taxis and cars were already parked. Later, he sent his son to get a pair of glasses from his car. The son later called him and said that the local residents objected to him parking the car at that spot. Paramjit said that there were other cars parked in the area too, but no one listened to him and the local residents started arguing with him. The local residents were reportedly angry over the slapping incident of BJP MP Kangana Ranaut at the Chandigarh airport. Later, a constable of Himachal Police also came to the spot and started arguing with Paramjit and asked him to park his car somewhere else. When Paramjit was driving his car away from there, ASI constable Madan Paul of HP Police also came and started arguing with him saying that he was driving in the wrong lane. The constable also tried to pull out his car keys but Paramjit rolled up his windows to stop the constable. Later, ASI Madan Paul left the spot and other locals came there and started arguing with him and kept saying, “You have slapped our woman in your area,” the UT police constable said. Paramjit claimed that neither the ASI nor the constable of Himachal Police were ready to listen to him and were supporting the locals without knowing the facts. The Himachal police also misbehaved with him in front of his family despite knowing that he was also from the Chandigarh police, Paramjit alleged. The ASI also slapped his hand when Paramjit tried to record the act on his mobile phone. In the process, his phone fell on the floor and switched off, the UT police officer alleged. After this incident, Paramjit cut short his two-day holiday in Dalhousie and returned home the same day. Paramjit Singh said he and his family members have been in shock since the incident. No response has been received from the Himachal police on his complaint so far, ASI Paramjit Singh said.
