OCONEE COUNTY, SC (WSPA) – An Upstate man is in custody following his arrest Tuesday on numerous charges, including armed robbery.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation on April 23 when officers responded to a business on West Cherry Road near Seneca for reports of a disturbance involving an armed man.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with a woman who reported she was driving 20-year-old Emmanuel Onious Williams to his home in Anderson when he became angry and began manipulating a handgun.

The victim told authorities she pulled into a parking lot, got out of her vehicle and went into the store on West Cherry Road. Williams followed the woman into the store and stole her purse, officials said.

It was reported that Williams then retrieved the woman’s handgun, wallet and car keys from her purse. He returned the purse to its owner, got into the victim’s vehicle and fled the scene.

The sheriff’s office said Williams was located just before 5:30 p.m. on May 7 and booked into the Oconee County Detention Center

In addition to his armed robbery charge, Williams was also served with outstanding warrants for misdemeanor misdemeanor petty theft, driving under suspension and grand larceny.

He was denied bail on all of his charges.
