Khanna police arrest shopkeeper for raping five-year-old girl

LUDHIANA: Khanna police on Saturday arrested a shopkeeper for allegedly raping a five-year-old girl and luring her with a toffee in a village in Khanna area. The accused is around 34 years old and runs a shop in the victim’s neighbourhood.

The victim’s mother told the police that she had bought household items from the accused’s shop. She added that the shop owner had committed indecent acts some time ago and one day held the child’s hand for a wrong motive.

The plaintiff said that when they protested, the defendant told them that if they felt that way, they should not come to his shop. She claimed that they stopped going to the shop, but despite this, the shop owner came to their house and gave her daughter chocolates and toffees when they went to work.

The victim’s mother said the accused lured her daughter with toffee late Friday night and took her to the store’s toilet, where he raped her.
