Destructive fire in caravan is being investigated

The Emporia Fire Department is continuing its investigation into a devastating mobile home fire Friday afternoon.

According to Fire Chief Michael Nunley, the emergency call came in around 4:20 p.m. to 1206 Monlight Circle Lot 8.

When firefighters arrived, they saw light smoke, but there is evidence that the fire spread rapidly between the time they were dispatched and the time fire crews took up position.

Nunley says there were no people or pets in the house when the fire was reported. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
