Police pursue woman after attempted traffic stop, arrested for drug quantities in vehicle

(WJET/WFXP) – Jamestown Police attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation, which led to a chase.

On Friday at approximately 9:40 p.m., members of the Jamestown Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation near Newland Avenue and Myrtle Street in Jamestown, NY.


The driver failed to comply and led officers on a chase through the city before stopping in a dead-end street and then attempting to flee on foot, but officers quickly took her into custody without further incident.

Officers then searched the car and allegedly found numerous narcotics, including 18 grams of methamphetamine, a quantity of cocaine, numerous acetaminophen-hydrocodone bitartrate and amphetamine-dextroamphetamine tablets (painkillers), as well as a digital scale and packaging material for distribution.

The driver was identified as a 47-year-old woman and after further investigation it was determined that she also had an arrest warrant from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.

The 47-year-old woman was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of criminal use of drug paraphernalia, unlawful flight with a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and numerous traffic violations.

She was held in the Jamestown Jail awaiting arraignment in the Jamestown Court.
