The winner, who chose to keep his identity a secret after purchasing a $10 ticket, was momentarily disbelieving when he realized he had won $250,000.

    How it happened

The contractor initially thought he had lost because his numbers did not match the winning numbers, so he scanned the ticket to verify. To his amazement, the scanner confirmed his win. “I scanned it and it said I won. I had to scan it again. I couldn’t believe it,” he explained, having missed the crucial “WINALL” money bag symbol, which means a win of all the prizes displayed.

The windfall comes at a crucial time for the winner, who is the father of two college students. He plans to use the funds to pay bills and support his children’s tuition. “I’ve worked hard to get to where I am now and this definitely helps,” he said, grateful for the financial relief the prize provides.
