Police: Local woman caught on surveillance video wearing high heels she stole from Newbie Goodwill

NEW BETHLEHEM BOROUGH, Pennsylvania (EYT) — Police say a Brookville woman is facing charges after she was caught on video surveillance stealing from the Goodwill store in New Bethlehem Borough.

Court records show that the Southern Clarion County Regional Police Department has filed charges against the 37-year-old Amy Bluntof Brookville, on May 13 in the office of District Judge Jeffrey C. Miller.

According to a recently released criminal complaint, SCCRPD Officer Waclav was called to the Goodwill Store in New Bethlehem, Clarion County, at approximately 11:03 a.m. on April 10, regarding a possible theft.

The store manager showed police video footage of the alleged theft from earlier that morning. The store manager stated that the suspect took a pair of high heels. It was also reported that the suspect put them in the bag she was carrying, did not pay for the item and fled the store, the complaint states.

Store employees gave police the license plate number of the vehicle the suspect had used to get in and out of the store. The license plate number of the vehicle was from a rental vehicle from a company in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Officers then contacted the company and received the name Amy Blunt as the person using the vehicle. Blunt was using that vehicle while maintenance was being performed on her vehicle, the complaint states.

Officers attempted to reach Blunt by phone about the incident and left numerous voicemails requesting an interview, but were unable to make contact. Employees of the Greensburg-based company sent SCCRPD screenshots of video footage of Amy Blunt unloading her belongings from the rental car in the stolen shoes the same day of the theft in New Bethlehem, according to the complaint.

SCCRPD contacted Jefferson County State Police to have an officer attempt to contact Blunt, but PSP did not make contact, the complaint states.

The value of the heels illegally stolen from the goodwill area is estimated at $7.99, the complaint states.

On Monday, June 17, at 10:15 a.m., Blunt is scheduled to be arraigned before Judge Miller on the following charges:

  • Shoplifting – Removal of goods, Offense 2
  • Receiving stolen goods, offense 3
