Bihar porter rapes and murders six-year-old girl in Telangana’s Peddapalli

Peddapalli (Telangana): The baby was sleeping next to her mother as usual, not knowing that she would become a victim of cruelty. In the middle of the night… she was picked up and killed by a human-shaped beast. CCTV shows that the six-year-old girl was sleeping soundly even as the accused carried her on his shoulders. How many times did she try to free herself as he strangled her? With no one to protect her in the darkness and pool of blood, she finally fell into an eternal sleep.

The incident of brutal rape and murder of a six-year-old girl by a monster in human form took place in Katnapalli, Sultanabad mandal in Peddapalli district around midnight on Thursday. According to Peddapalli ACP Krishna and locals, the couple from Kumurambim Asifabad district came to Katnapalli less than a month ago and worked as porters in a rice mill on the outskirts of the village.

They have two daughters aged six years and seven months. The couple slept with their children under the sheets outside the shed after the electricity supply was cut due to rain on Thursday night. When the woman woke up at around 11.30pm, her elder daughter (6), who was supposed to be with her, was missing. She woke up her husband and relatives who worked in the same factory. They informed the owner, who came to the factory and checked the video footage.

It turned out that the child had been taken away by a man. When the girl’s father called, Sultanabad police came and searched the area around the mill. It was dark and nothing could be found. At 6 am on Friday, the child’s father searched towards the lane behind another rice mill. There, the little girl was seen in the bushes. There is evidence that the accused physically abused her. When the parents saw the child lying in a pool of blood, they cried inconsolably.

Identification of the accused based on video surveillance recordings

The scenes of the accused carrying the child on his shoulder were recorded by a CCTV camera near the shed where the deceased’s family was sleeping. Police identified him from the footage. Vinod Maje (28) from Bihar, who worked in another factory adjacent to the factory where the victim’s family worked, was identified as the perpetrator of the attack.

Police suspect that the accused picked up the sleeping child around 11 pm and strangled her to death after attacking her on the river bank behind the factory where she worked. Vinod Maje, who was washing clothes on the factory premises on Friday morning, was arrested by the police and confessed to the crime during interrogation. He was thus arrested. While the accused’s wife and three children were in Bihar, he came alone 10 days ago and worked as a porter in the factory.

Demand for strict punishment

Party leaders, members of civil society organisations and women staged a protest on Rajiv Road in Sultanabad demanding strict punishment against the accused for murdering an innocent child. Due to this, traffic came to a standstill for half an hour. However, they called off the protest after CI Subba Reddy and SI reached the spot and assured that justice would be done to the victim’s family.
