A police report reveals new details about the arrest of a man who allegedly made threats against a Loveland school, leading to the school canceling classes on Tuesday.

According to a Loveland police report, Timothy Longar was arrested on two counts: violating a protective order, inducing panic and aggravated menacing.

Loveland police said they were notified by the School Resource Officer at St. Columban School around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning that an individual – later identified as Longar – had posted “concerning content” on social media.

Police say that because of Longar’s posts, parents expelled their children from school for safety reasons.

Officials said Longar was arrested last year and convicted in Clermont County Municipal Court of aggravated menacing and violating protective orders.

The report said the charges were based on “a hatred Mr. Longar harbors” toward the Catholic Church, St. Columban School and school officials. Officials say Longar used one of his social media accounts to “communicate his dislike” and make threats.

According to arrest records, Longar had a civil protection order against school officials that was signed on March 27, 2024 and was in effect until March 21, 2029.

According to police, parents of children who attended the school sent police emails containing images from Longar’s social media accounts that displayed emojis symbolizing violence, such as dynamite, a target and a gun; a video from a Sandy Hook school shooting survivor; and a complaint about one of his daughter’s grades on an assignment.

As a result of the posts, classes were canceled at St. Columban’s on Tuesday, but classes continued as usual on Wednesday.
