MPD HEAT officers arrest drug offenders after chase

MONROE, Louisiana (KNOE) – On June 1, the Monroe Police Department’s High Enforcement Apprehension Team (HEAT) conducted an investigation in the 4000 block of Gayton Street that led to the arrest of Vince Hunt.

According to MPD, officers attempted to stop Hunt as he was leaving his home. Authorities say Hunt refused to stop and a chase ensued.

As Hunt drove away from officers, he lost control of his vehicle and went off the road, striking a large concrete pillar. Officers said his vehicle spun out of control several times before coming to a stop in the parking lot at 5600 Desiard Street.

Officers searched his vehicle and found the following: 13.5 pounds of marijuana, 1,300 ecstasy pills, 280 Xanax pills, 19 ounces of promethazine, a digital money counter, a vacuum bag sealer, and evidence needed to package narcotics. HEAT officers also found a Glock 26 9mm, H&K VP .40 caliber, Loricin .25 caliber, Glock 21 .45 caliber, Hi-Point .380 caliber, DMPS .223 AR-15 rifle, a large amount of ammunition for all firearms, and $12,650 in cash.

Hunt was accused of the following:

  • Six counts – Illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of narcotics
  • Two counts – Criminal conspiracy
  • One count – production, manufacture, distribution or willful possession of a Schedule IV narcotic
  • One count – possession with intent to distribute/manufacture CDS-II
  • Four counts – Distribution and possession of CDS I with intent to manufacture
  • One count – fleeing from an officer; aggravated fleeing from an officer
  • Count once – stop signs and yield signs; penalties for violations
