Alert Carolina siren test will take place on June 18

The University will test the Alert Carolina alarm system on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, between 5 and 7 p.m. We test Alert Carolina regularly throughout the year to ensure the equipment and alarm processes are working as designed. NO ACTION is required during this siren test.

During the test, anyone on or near campus will likely hear the exterior sirens. These sirens are not designed to be heard inside buildings or vehicles. The sirens will emit a warning tone and a short recorded voice message.

The university will also send a text message to cell phone users who have registered their numbers on the Alert Carolina online contact information page, which is available through the Onyen Services website. The university will post safety-related announcements along with updates on the Alert Carolina website (alertcarolina.unc.edu).
