New details are emerging about the Truckee plane crash in March that killed two people

The National Transportation Safety Board released a preliminary report into the fatal small plane crash in Truckee that killed two people in late March.

A Compagnie Daher TBM 700 single-engine turboprop plane crashed while attempting to land just after 6:30 p.m. March 30 north of Truckee Tahoe Airport, killing the pilot and passenger, the NTSB report said.

The plane’s occupants were later identified as Liron and Naomi Petrushka of Incline Village. The couple was on a return flight from Centennial Airport in Denver, Colorado.

The NTSB said the pilot attempted to turn on runway lights, which were off at the time of the crash. The air traffic control tower was also closed.

According to the report, light snow was falling at the time of the crash.
